Blogging is a verb, too.
October 17, 2008
I’ve been blog-handicapped for a month and it feels good to be back. I’ve wanted to blog since last night because I saw some guy wearing a shirt saying “actions speak louder than blogs” but I was too tired to get my brain cells working so I ended up closing my eyes and drifting away to dreamland. I didn’t feel irritated about it but somehow it made me think. I know I’m amazing. I think about pointless stuff all the time. And that statement made me want to rip that shirt of his to shreds for all to know that actions don’t speak, uLOLOLOLOLOLOL (Pablo Banila style). Kidding, hehe. Seriously though, I wanted to tell him that his shirt lacked semantics. Blog is a noun. Blogging is a verb, and an action. Therefore, it’s just wrong to say that actions (blogging) speak louder than blogs (itself). I’d have liked his shirt if it said “only monkeys wear this kind of shirt”.
So there. I’ve been up to no good for a month. I needed to put my attention to many things, and my head didn’t work pretty well in processing priorities so in the end, I came up attending to just a few things and poorly at that. Sigh. For the next few weeks, I’ll take a good halloween vacation and get things straight, plan ahead, and stop procrastinating. I need help for that last one.
For a whole month, I’ve been back to the world of Japanese animation, the one drug that runs thick in my blood. I was able to catch up with the latest episodes of Naruto Shippuuden and Bleach. I’m getting hyped up at the minute trying to resist the urge to watch the latest episode of Bleach now that the Kasumi-Ouji filler is over and done with. I’ll watch it when this post is concluded.
Also, I got to cross out from my must-read list two of my favorite graphic novels, Alan Moore’s Watchmen and Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere.
Watchmen is an extremely twisted adult superhero comic. At first, I was a bit disappointed because I am not a fan of superhero costumes and this title just overflows with it. But, stick to the plot and you’ll get drowned in a superspin.
Neverwhere is amazing, as expected from a Neil Gaiman piece brought to color. All expectations met and surpassed. I’ll never tire of this guy and his excellent stories.
Aside from these two graphic novels, I’ve also been sniffing at Onemanga for several completed titles they have scanlated. My favorite is Angel Densetsu. It’s a story of a guy who has the heart of an angel but the face of a devil. Well, that was how they described the manga. Norihiro Yagi’s work is simple but captivating. I was entranced at how he was able to bring out each of the characters to life and grab the reader into the story itself. I felt like I was one of the students at Hekikuu High spreading rumors about who’s in love with who and fighting bullies from other schools. It’s funny and serious and engrossing all at the same time. Read and enjoy.
So there, I’m done with a few updates. My life is still as low as ever, but I can always cheer myself up with food. Speaking of which, I would like to thank a friend’s treat at A Veneto Pizzeria Ristorante. Aside from the delicious food, it was fun hanging out with those guys even if it was just over dinner. Also, thanks to Anna’s home-made spaghetti later that night. :)
I’m always in a good mood with food.
